One Woman Wonder

From being a Jell-O Pudding kid, with Bill Cosby, to the One Woman Show, Faith Alpher's life and career journey provides evidence of God's attribute of faithfulness that she is named for.  A 1996 School of Communication and the Arts graduate, wife and mother of three,  Faith is a comedian and has been in the entertainment industry since her childhood. She seeks to glorify God and encourage people through her special gifting and passion.  Please enjoy and be encouraged by reading some of the interview.

QW:  Tell us about what you do.
FA:  I am a professional actress, entertainer, radio DJ, I do the One Woman Show and was also selected for a feature on the Oprah Winfrey Network.  The Lord delivered me and I have come a long way from a difficult childhood where I was mistreated, unmotivated and endured much inner turmoil.

QW:  How did your vision for your organizations and ministries develop? How did you get started with entertainment and ministry?
FA: Regent had everything to do with it teaching me to hold on to values.  Professors at Regent helped me to find myself, encouraged me and lovingly disciplined me.  I had been in entertainment since my childhood debut with the Jello-O Pudding kids.  I admit that I originally attended Regent because of a young man I was interested in at the time.  But I did eventually meet my husband, Daniel, at Regent.

QW:  What is it like working in the entertainment field which is dominated by secular influences?
FA:  It is a huge adventure!  It is fun, thrilling and challenging.  And as a wife and mother I put family first.  Prayer is the key and you will not accomplish anything without it.

QW:  How do you get your material?
    FA:  Everyday life.

QW:  What is a neat opportunity you have had?
FA:  Being featured on the Oprah Winfrey Network show "Searching For" was a highlight.  The show traced me as I searched for a teacher that had positively impacted me as a child.

QW:  What have the greatest challenges and victories been?
FA:  I have struggled financially, and have had to go to food pantries in the past, but I know that God's timing is perfect.  I seek to be faithful and know God is going to bless that.  I encourage people not to compare themselves, because you never know what the details of other people's lives are.

QW:  What do you love about what you do?
FA:  I love the laughter. I love to make people laugh by just being myself.  For several years I stayed away from comedy.   I did not enjoy it as much because I was trying to act funny but it was not authentic.  I did not know how to be myself and be funny.  Philippians 1:6 "He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it."

    QW:  Who/what inspires you?
FA:  A Proverbs 31 woman, my mother was a single mom and worked hard to take care of her family though she suffered from stress related seizures.  My mother is now back together with her husband and they are celebrating 15 years of reconciliation.

QW:  How can we pray for you?
FA:  As I continue it is my desire to find a good agent and manager for me and my family.

QW:  Would you like to share any words of wisdom, encouragement, or admonition with the Regent community?
FA:  1-In the dark places, God is with you.  2-In moments of your uncertainty with your career, know that God is with you. 3-If the Lord has promised you something as a child and you came to Regent, God is with you, hold on to it.  Know what God called you to.  Be Steadfast, immovable, abounding in the work of the Lord.
