Friends and Alumni Appreciation

During February, a month traditionally dedicated to showing love and gratitude to those we hold close, we want to express appreciation for the generosity of the Regent University friends and alumni.

Currently, tuition covers an average of 52 percent* of the overall expenses of educating a student at Regent University. The remaining 48 percent is covered by the generous gifts of our friends and alumni and earnings from our endowment.

I plan to use my degree in the field of International Politics in which I hope to eventually function as a servant leader in diplomacy and peacemaking. I am currently working toward a career in the US Department of State where I aspire to gain experience in collaborating with people of other nations and cultures while staying true to the American values of freedom and democracy. As I begin to observe the fruit of my labours here at Regent University growing into prospects of a career in the US Department of State, it is ever-present in my mind the profound impact Regent has had upon me and the budding of my upcoming opportunities. When I applied to the Robertson School of Government, I felt a certain trepidation regarding the fact that Regent is a Christian university. I wondered if studying under the presidency of a controversial person such as Dr Robertson would be beneficial to my aspirations. However, I have come to recognize that it is Dr Robertson and the Christian worldview inculcated in us here at Regent that makes us competent and sound future leaders of America, as well, of course, as the high calibre of instruction given here. But most importantly, it is because of you, the donors, that I have been able to enjoy and, quite literally, revel in the wonderful experience I call my Regent education. Your generous donations have facilitated my dreams, making the sheer joy I receive from involvement and receiving education here a reality. In this time of economic crisis, I can understand the need for personal financial restraint and responsibility. We all must tighten our belts. But I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the fact that you, the donors, have not lessened the greatness of your giving. Because of this, Regent students like me are able to pursue our goals. Thank you all, and may God bless you tenfold for your greatness and generosity!

Thank you for your generous contributions to Regent University. They made the merit scholarship available, without which I would be unable to attend such a wonderful, Christ-centered school. Your gifts have advanced Regent University's vision to raise Christian leaders who will change the world! Upon graduation, I plan to develop leaders around the world and strengthen the Body of Christ. My prayer for your comes from the book of Proverbs: Proverbs 11:25 (NIV) A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. May you prosper and be refreshed. You have refreshed many eager students with your faithfulness and generosity!
    Blessings!
    A Regent Undergrad Senior

I plan to use my degree from Regent to write for the further expansion of the Kingdom of heaven. Whether that venue of writing is through a journalism tract, broadcasting, or writing a book, the desire of my heart is to use the abilities God has placed in my heart, and Regent has honed, to bring people to God and deepend their walk with Him. Thank you generous supporters of Regent for helping me as well as the other students fulfill the dreams God has placed in our hearts by learning at a place where His name is glorified, where excellence prevails, and where Christian leaders are emerging to change the world. I received a scholarship from a donor, enabling to take another course and not go further into debt, hallelujah! I am thankful for your example of being a generous spirit, and bless you in the name of Jesus. “A generous person will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25). May you be continually refreshed in spirit, soul and body.

I plan to use my degree for those in the church who are ashamed to let anyone know they need help due to the stigma associated with clinical counseling in the Christian community. I am very grateful for the opportunity granted to me by your support to attend a world renowned university that is equipping me with the necessary tools needed to become a leader to change the world. I only dreamed of being able to go back to school, and often wondered if and how it would become a reality. I sought God faithfully to lead me to an accredited Christian University whose curriculum would be Christ centered in totality, and not as a deceptive mask to draw students. God led me to Regent University. I did not have the means (finance/money) to attend school. Because of your continued support and other means of financial aid assistance I am able to attend this prestigious institute of higher learner. God has blessed me to retain a 4.0 grade point average. This is the standard I have set for myself to show my gratitude for the privilege granted by a faithful God and supporters such as you. With every thing in me I thank you. By the grace of God I will not make you regret your continued gifts of love. Your act of kindness has given me a new lease on life, a new start, and a fresh and new beginning.
    Thank You

Once I obtain my undergraduate degree, I plan to attend graduate school to acquire a master's degree in Psychology, which will facilitate my career path as a prison psychologist. I would like to thank all Regent donors for their random acts of charity and good will, which have helped so many students such as myself to pursue higher education despite financial hindrance and economic struggles. Your benevolent contributions have made it possible for me to grow in God's grace while embracing an educational familiarity that incorporates Christian philosophy, as well as biblical doctrine. Once again, thank you for giving with your hearts, and may God bless you in this life and the next in accordance to His will. Let all your things be done with charity (I Cor. 16:14).

It is great to be part of an institution that inspires its alumni to continually give back with grateful hearts for the education they received. I will count myself blessed to be numbered among the alumni of Regent University in just a few short years and continue the tradition of encouraging current students both financially and spiritually. I am glad we have a month set aside as an appreciation for the friends and alums of Regent; it is a good way to remind students that we all owe a great deal to the time, energy, donations and most of all prayer and spiritual support so willingly given to support us. Thanks to all those who are friends and alums of Regent for all that you do for the current students and the community here!

When I graduate from Regent University I plan on doing exactly what our motto is “Christian leadership to change the world.” I am a government major with an emphasis in foreign policy and international relations with a minor in communications. I want to change the world and I want it to be glorifying unto God. A regent is someone who takes the place of a king and we as Christians are here in the place of Christ to spread the gospel and be a light unto the world and I will do just that. I am fluent in German and I would like to become an ambassador in Germany. I would also like to create an organization which helps children in the United States to be able to further their education and be a positive influence on society. I plan on doing many things with my degree that will re-place Christ as it’s backbone in America and I believe 100% that this degree will get me there. I truly cannot express my gratitude enough to the Regent Alumni and friends that are helping me to be a Christian advocate in the world today. I am the first child of five to graduate from high school and decide to go to college. I didn’t know how I was going to afford school and I moved down here from Washington State to follow God’s will. Because of the Regent Alumni and friends, I was able to better afford college and feel comforted that someone was out there supporting me. I would like to thank you all for paying over 40% of extra costs and I hope that one day I too will be able to be alumni and donate money.

    Dearest Donors,
Just a note, a small token, to say thank you for all that you have made possible. I know that there are many worthy investments for your giving, and I'm grateful that you have chosen to give here, to Regent. Since matriculating, I have been sincerely impressed and provoked by the caliber of individual that comes to study at this University. I've never encountered another group of people who's dreams and ambitions bear such a richly thought-out and diverse familiarity to the central prayer of our faith: Father, hallowed be your name. Let your Kingdom come, and your will be done, ON EARTH, as it is in heaven. Your gifts are helping to leverage those desires from the realm of prayer, into reality. With sincere thanks, we greet you in the name of our Lord.

With the grace of God, I plan to serve God in India and other parts of Asia and the world in the following areas. 1. Evangelism and apologetics - among college students, university campuses, and professional settings. 2. Christian Leadership development for the pastors and Christian leaders to equip them for evangelism. 3. Writing books on these areas esp. to the audience of eastern cultures. 4. Contribution to Pentecostal theology in India and other parts of Asia. 5. Also, with the grace of God, with the training I get here and with all the friends and network I make here, I want to do my best in establishing a world class Christian center for theological studies, evangelism and leadership development in North India, that will be a epicenter for Christian thought, mission and research, and also serve as a powerful Christian voice to the culture and society.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
Greetings to you in the most precious and blessed name of Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you so much for helping students like me pursue their God given dreams. The fact I am at Regent, leaving my parents, a promising career in the IT industry in India, is purely God's will and purpose. There is a clear and definite call of God in my life that I am trying my best to obey. This time for me at Regent is a key for that plan of God to unfold in my life. I am 100% sure about this. I am sure that what you are investing in Regent is directly investing in the kingdom of God as Regent is shaping my thought and character in every possible way to root myself in the calling God has placed in my life. Everyday, at Regent, I am enriched spiritually, emotionally and intellectually. I can clearly see the infrastructure, faculty and administration and the community here all working in tandem to glorify God and carry out His purpose in the lives of students like me. May God bless you abundantly according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. When I become an alumnus of this great institution, I promise to follow your path in contributing to this great institution that sows things of God into the lives of young leaders. Amen! In Jesus' name.

I appreciate your contributions and I am proud to say that someone believes in me and my ability to make a difference in the world. You are a part of the reason I am here and have an ability to acquire a world class education. Thank you for your work and contributions it is noticed and appreciated. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. I hope to meet you one day to share my experience with you and encourage you to continue doing what your doing it is definitely not being done in vain. Do not grow weary of well doing. Your reward comes from God and not man.
    God Bless,
    J.S.

In the last week, as I've studied for my classes and completed assignments on-line, I've been working on other "assignments" here at home. I've counseled a rape victim and prayed for God to strengthen and heal her to face each day with God's help. I've listened to teenagers talk about their cares and worries and challenged them to make life decisions that will bring glory to God. I've watched God raise up a new generation of leaders to help lead small groups or reach out to visitors who are seeking to know God. I enjoy my classes. I love my work. But I couldn't possibly make ends meet financially without the support of Regent's friends and alumni who give graciously and generously to Regent. I'm grateful for God's amazing Providence which is demonstrated through their faithful giving. "morning by morning, new mercies I see..." With thanks and joy

    Dear Friend of the University,
My name is Ward Davis, and I am a fourth-year doctoral psychology student at Regent. I am from Raleigh, North Carolina and did my undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I just wanted to take a moment to say "thank you" for your generous financial and prayerful support of Regent. Words cannot express how much I have enjoyed my time here at Regent and benefitted from the top-notch academic and clinical training I have received. Not only have I benefitted from my time at Regent professionally, but I have also grown tremendously as a person, as a Christian, and as a leader. None of this personal and professional growth would have been possible without you and others like you who have supported this great university. Thank you again, and may God bless you richly for your support!
    Sincerely,
    Edward B. Davis

There truly are not words to thank the donors to Regent University that have made my time here possible. You have not only helped a dream come true (always been my dream to attend Regent), but given me a future as well. I will always recall my Regent time with great affection, as being some of the best years of my life. I thought I would be lucky to make it through undergrad, but the rigor of Regent has encouraged me to go beyond with confidence. I am very proud that Regent will be my alma mater. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you, and may the Lord rain down blessings upon you and yours for opening the doors for strangers. ~Ellie

Thank you so very, very much for the generous donations that provide me with this law school education. If it were not for you, I would not be able to be here. God has impressed on my family's heart the importance of being debt free as much as possible - and your generous giving is a way that God shows his faithfulness to me. So, thank you. I am so excited and blessed to be here learning the law from fabulous professors who truly love the Lord. I can't imagine a better law school experience.
    Sincerely,
    Kawika Vellalos

    Dear Donors,
Your contributions to Regent University are making it possible for my husband and I to both graduate with masters degrees (Law and Leadership) and apply the education to areas we believe the Lord to be calling us. Financially we could never do this on our own, and it is only through your generosity that we can graduate without large amounts of debt. Thank you for being willing to use what God has given you to help others who are starting out on a new path.
    God bless you,
    Kara Hanger

To the many donors and alumni of Regent University,
I just want to thank all those who support Regent University. I am the son of a pastor and my family did not have a lot of extra money to spend on the cost of school. I constantly felt the pressure of the financial situation and I wondered if I would be able to go to school. I was so excited when I received a scholarship from Regent University which allowed me to attend the university. It is thanks to people like you that I am able to go to a school of such caliber and I thank you for your many contributions. May the Lord bless you one hundred fold.
