<< BackRegent Celebrates New Chapel Opening
Opening the door for a new season of spiritual growth on campus,
Regent University will celebrate the dedication of its Chapel and
Divinity Building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday,
March 22, along with evening worship services Thursday, March 21 —
Saturday, March 23, featuring internationally recognized speakers.
"This beautiful new Chapel will be the heart of our
university," said Regent president, Dr. Carlos Campo. "So much will take
place here, both in the Chapel and in the Divinity Building. The Chapel
will give our faculty, staff and students the opportunity to reflect
upon the reason we are all here."
Regent's founder and chancellor, Dr. M.G. "Pat" Robertson, U.S. Rep. J.
Randy Forbes, Chesapeake Mayor Alan Krasnoff, Bishop B. Courtney McBath
'98 (Divinity) of Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, Va., and former
Regent trustee Joe Gregory will be among the speakers at the
ribbon-cutting. Following the event, both the Chapel and Divinity
Building will be open for tours.
In addition to the Friday morning ceremony, Regent is welcoming
international evangelist Reinhard Bonnke on Thursday evening; Pastor Jim
Cymbala of The Brooklyn Tabernacle on Friday evening; and Ron Luce,
president of Teen Mania, on Saturday evening. Services begin each
evening at 8 p.m., with special worship music by David M. Edwards,
creative director of Regent's International Center for Worship, and
Bethel music artist William Matthews.
The evening services and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be live-streamed by CBN and available for viewing through the Regent website.
Inspired by St. Martin-in-the-Fields—a London church with medieval roots
that represents, for many, the archetypal church design—the new Chapel
features a 1,000-seat sanctuary, as well as a smaller prayer room and a
prayer garden. Besides worship services for Regent and CBN, the Chapel
will be available for weddings and other special events.
Connected to the Chapel by a covered walkway, the new Divinity Building
provides ample space for the School of Divinity students and faculty, as
well as a welcome center for prospective Regent students, and office
areas for Campus Ministries, Enrollment Management and Professional
& Continuing Education.
